SOLVING LAB CONSULTANCY

This company was a product of constant brainstorming on how to make this nation and world a better place and was then finally formed. Solving Lab constitutes a pioneering, independent, private company of consulting services in the field of epidemiology and public health.

Solving Lab is set up to solve as many equations as possible that will end in positive and beneficial outcomes. The main idea to set up Solving Lab was to tackle all the unresolved issues and problems that lingers continuously among us especially in regards to epidemiology of various diseases and public health problems.

Solving Lab’s main goal is to strengthen various scientific research, data collection and analyses in order to deliver strong and useful results towards successful evidence-based interventions for addressing existing and rising problems, globally.


VISION


The vision of Solving Lab Consultancy (SLC) is ambitious and impactful, aiming to make significant contributions to humanity and the betterment of society. The core components of this vision can be summarized as follows:

Completed/Ongoing Projects & Research


  • Mental health workshops and trainings for Malaysian immigration officers, school counsellors, university students and school students in Malaysia
  • Researcher Lead: International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) analysis on migration research in Malaysia
  • Consultancy with Malaysian AIDS Council: “Differentiated HIV Services for Key Population”
  • Executed an online platform via ‘Facebook Page’ linked to ‘TikTok’ as well, dedicated solely for mental health. Platform is called ‘Mental Health and I’. The Malaysian media, Malaysiakini interviewed me for this effort as well.
  • Plan, execute and conduct talks, workshops, webinars and programs on mental health
    including ‘Psychological First Aid’ Training
  • Active member of an NGO – National Coalition of Mental Wellbeing (NCMW), Malaysia
  • Research Fellow at Monash University – Global dementias: Examining structural vulnerability and dementia outcomes in Australia, Malaysia and Bangladesh
  • Working on various mental health projects and research focusing on mental health literacy, suicide, discrimination/stigma and many others with ‘Rotary Malaysia’ as a national coalition (coalition with various organizations and ministries) for mental well-being in Malaysia.
  • Information and planning consultant at Western Pacific Regional Office, WHO for COVID-19. Examples of some tasks performed: Providing expert epidemiological advice to colleagues and external agencies. Working on weekly COVID-19 transmission stage assessments for many countries (including separate assessments for provinces, states, regions) like Mongolia, Pacific Island Countries, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore and many more. Working on detailed and meticulous assessments and analysis for these countries. Participating in weekly meetings with the country offices and discuss the
    assessments and provide support to them for their discussions with their respective MOHs. Besides that, I have also provided deep analyses and work on the surge in COVID-19 in Malaysia back then in December 2020 and provided hypotheses and interventions to help curb the spread.
  • Project Manager for POCT Measles Project (MOH, Malaysia) at WHO Country Office Malaysia, funded by CDC, USA
  • Providing support for COVID-19 response and management at WHO Country Office Malaysia, was the focal point for lab at WHO Country Office Malaysia, liaising and working with WHO HQ-Geneva, WPRO and IMR & UMMC Malaysia in regard to Unity Studies involving 5 protocols and Solidarity II
  • Lead researcher in the planning and executing qualitative research among vulnerable women in Malaysia regarding sexual and gender-based violence and discrimination especially in regard to freedom of speech, funded by UNTF with EMPOWER (‘Persatuan Kesedaran Komuniti, Selangor’)
  • UNICEF consultancy: Gap analysis consultant for ‘Situational Analysis of Women and Adolescents’ and ‘Situational Analysis of Adolescents’ Malaysia, 2020
  • Organize and carry out talks and workshops for universities, NGOs and communities especially in the context of mental health and COVID-19.
  • Conducted qualitative research in regards to drug users with HIV and women living with HIV who are mothers
  • ‘HIV Cascade Analyses’ workshops and trainings for health officials
  • Piloting clinical research trials
  • Formed new ways to get efficient and quicker treatments for inmates in regards to HIV and TB at large prisons
  • Worked with quantitative research studies and analyzed huge datasets in regards to sexually transmitted diseases and sexual networking as well as comorbidities of heart diseases with mental illnesses
  • Established ‘Standard of Procedures (SOPs), questionnaires and surveys for research studies
  • Managing budgets from huge grants for specific projects and programs
  • Managed operations, human resources and policy programs for the education, health, social/community development and governance sectors’
  • Designed monitoring and evaluation framework for non-communicable diseases
  • Programme management in various fields (epidemiology, public health, sociology)
